We’ve Opened a New Location – And We’re Bragging About it!
How it Happened:
On Friday October 28th, I needed a haircut.
It was a simple haircut that lead to us opening our new location at Queen and Spadina.
On my way to the barber, I happened to walk past a cluster of “For Rent” signs at a unit right at the north west corner of Queen and Spadina (beside McDonalds). I took a peek into the unit and saw an older Asian gentleman showing the space to prospective tenants and it immediately intrigued me.
During my haircut, it’s all I could think about.
When I was in a Cuban jail last month for flying my drone, I had moments of clarity about what I wanted to do if I got out; I wanted to grow A Nerd’s World. I wasn’t specifically thinking about a new location, but I was dreaming of ways to grow the business. During my haircut, when I was thinking about that unit for rent, the saying “if you build it, they will come” came into my head.
Right after my haircut, I went straight to the unit for rent and the Asian gentleman was still there.
I said “Sir, I want this place, you can tell those other people it’s no longer available”.
Suffice to say, he didn’t take me too seriously. So I walked across the street and pulled $8000 cash from the bank and went straight back to the unit and put the money on the dirty chair.
He didn’t take the money that day, but 3 days later the keys were in my pocket and the rest is history.
The space needed a complete overhaul. We did an extremely thorough renovation keeping our brand in mind. We ripped the roof out, re-did the electrical, painted the walls, put up shelves, built a front desks and two for the back office, you name it, we did it all ourselves.
The space now has our official nerd portrait wheat paste wall with 9 tv’s, logo gallery wall and one-of-a-kind vintage camera wall, just like our other 2 locations. I also experimented by making drips with excess black paint on the logo wall and I’m not sure if I really like it just yet.
We officially opened our doors this week and this location is already showing promise. We are focused on growing our business which is what this location is already helping us do. There is lots of action down at Queen and Spadina, and we’re right in the thick of it.
The goal for A Nerd’s World is to be more accessible to large enterprises and small businesses for web development, graphic design, Toronto SEO and Headshot Photography. We welcome you to come down to our store and talk with us about how we can help your business. We strive to provide professional service in a timely manner for a competitive price.
We continue to move in the right direction year after year and remain the best at what we do.
If you have any questions at all, I am here to help.
All the best!
